Currency Converter

Convert between 33 major currencies using live mid-market rates, updated daily and cached in your browser for speed.

This tool converts between 33 major currencies using live mid-market exchange rates. Rates are fetched once and cached in your browser for an hour, with the conversion itself computed locally. Mid-market is the benchmark midpoint — banks and transfer services add a margin, so the rate you are offered will be less favourable.

Rates come from the ExchangeRate-API open endpoint (open.er-api.com), a free service that aggregates mid-market rates from multiple market data providers and updates daily. If that endpoint is unreachable, the converter automatically falls back to the open-source @fawazahmed0/currency-api dataset served over the jsDelivr CDN, so a single provider outage does not break conversions.

Rates are fetched fresh on your first conversion of the session and cached in your browser for one hour. Click the refresh button (↻) to force an immediate update at any time.

These are mid-market (interbank) reference rates — the midpoint between the buy and sell price, and the fairest benchmark for comparison. They are not the rate you will be offered at a counter: banks, card networks and money transfer services add a margin on top, so expect the rate you actually receive to be less favourable.

The converter supports 33 major world currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, SGD, AED and more. Any of them can be used as either the base or the target currency.

Only a request for the current rate table of your base currency is sent to the rate provider. The amount you type, the conversion itself and your history never leave your browser — the arithmetic is done locally against the downloaded rate table.
